Program: 2015 Technology Summer Internship Programme (Bournemouth, Glasgow & London)

Corporate
Corporate – Technology
Summer Analyst
2015
Various UK Locations

Spend the summer with us and you’ll see that we’re a global leader in technology. Every part of our business is powered, informed and maintained by technology. Every trade, every product, every piece of advice, every ounce of research. Technology drives the firm’s overall efficiency, improves our risk management and enhances our customer experience. It is our competitive advantage.

What you can expect from our summer internship

To say technology is a vital part of our firm is an understatement. There’s not a single part of our business that isn’t empowered and enhanced by the creative thinking of our technologists – and the industry-leading solutions they provide. Join us and you’ll work alongside, and learn from, some of the brightest minds in the industry across our consumer, wholesale and corporate businesses. Whether you work as an Application Developer, Business Analyst, Infrastructure Engineer or Systems Engineer, you’ll play your part in turning our technologies into a competitive advantage for the firm.

Throughout your time with us, you’ll be learning – both on-the-job and more formally through professional development workshops. It will all start with a robust orientation session. After that, you’ll have your very own mentor to support and advise you through the program. And to cap it all off, you’ll be invited to our speaker series and a whole host of other exclusive events. Which means you’ll have the chance to meet, and learn from, colleagues – including senior leaders – and extend your professional network to other areas of the firm. You’ll also have the chance to join us full-time after successful completion of the summer internship and upon graduation.

What you need to bring

Passion. Drive. Commitment. A real sense that you’re someone who is highly motivated to build a career in this field. We’ll be looking for all of these things. You’ll also be expected to back up your ambition with strong academic credentials (degree minimum of a 2:1 or European equivalent, results to date should clearly demonstrate that this is a realistic indication) and knowledge of IT programming languages, networks, databases, etc.

Requirements needed:

  • Working toward a B.A./B.S. degree; Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and/or MIS is preferred — other degree subjects may be considered
  • Masters students with one year or less working experience may be considered
  • Previous related internship experience and/or other relevant experience is preferred
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (i.e., C, C++, Java, C#, Python, Visual Basic, SQL, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of networking, database and infrastructure and/or server administration for Infrastructure Engineers

But what we’re most interested in is you as a person: your qualities, outside interests and achievements beyond academia that demonstrate who you are and the difference you could bring to the team.
